Bird Lesson

Pick Picknic is one our favorite games and good for talking about birds.

Hard, curved beak good for tearing apart meat.
We played Pick Picknic with daddy and then did a lesson about birds after.  We watched a movie about birds.  It showed a baby duck hatching, a baby bird chirping while hatching to let it's mom know it's hatching, and the different kinds of bird beaks.  We then talked about different kinds of birds' beaks.  We pretended to be birds and used our different sized and shaped beaks to eat certain kinds of food.  Here are some of the different kinds of beaks and what they are good at eating.
A scooping beak, good for scooping up fish.
Long, thin beak good for eating insects out of trees.
Long, very thin beak good for nectar.
Thin, long beak good at eating bugs.
Fat beak good for eating seeds.
